Here is how this works in practice. We give and configure comms kit packages scaled to your crew size and the tangle of your locations, covering two-way radios, surveillance headsets, pro intercom and IFB feeds for talent. Our team handles channel planning, programmes gear before delivery, and surveys locations in advance to identify coverage challenges, deploying repeaters and long-range units where needed. For multi-unit shoots we design set up plans with separate channels per unit and shared frequencies for key staff.

Here is the short of it. Malta's pro comms inventory handles standard shoots well. But for large feature crews running dozens of radios we supplement stock from Sicily. Plus the Italian mainland, or from UK suppliers, with gear moving carnet-free within the EU and arriving by sea or air. We deliver tested, charged kit with backup units, manage battery rotation through the shooting day, and give on-set setup and troubleshooting support.

Here is the breakdown. RF range on the islands, covering comms, wireless mics and video, is covered by the Malta Communications Authority, and we set up radio and intercom channels within its allocations and advise on any sign-ups needed.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. Malta's compact geography helps planning, with most locations 30 to 45 minutes apart. But coverage itself can be demanding: the honey-coloured globigerina limestone the Knights of St John built with produces very thick walls in heritage sites such as Fort Ricasoli and the palaces of the Three Cities. This attenuate radio signal and reward careful repeater placement. Exteriors along the Dingli Cliffs, the Grand Harbour and across the Gozo Channel bring their own range challenges. Hot, dry summers, sea salt and limestone dust make gear protection a routine concern. English is an official language alongside Maltese, so channel briefings and crew planning run smoothly, and the Malta Film Commission liaises with local councils and police on access.
